Russell Drysdale’s Easel

West Wyalong, NSW

Influential Australian artist Russell Drysdale became an iconic figure after painting a series of landscapes of drought-ravaged 1940s New South Wales. Recreated in bronze by Gillie and Marc for the town of West Wyalong is Drysdale’s studio space – comprising of his easel, and a 3D version of one of his famous paintings. “This interactive sculpture is placed on the street at the exact angle Drysale painted from,” says Gillie. “We’ve recreated the streetscape, only it is more than double the original size. It’s a real landmark for West Wyalong.”
