Based on the monument dedicated to Lewis the Koala, the little Koala who was snatched from the flames during the Australian bushfires, this Lewis sits proudly in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, happy in the knowledge that everyone in the big city loves him. Sadly, Lewis died having succumbed to his burns. Now, this memorial is a reminder of the loss of Lewis, but also all the animals who perished in the flames. It serves as a call to the world to take up the charge for conservation so we will continue to see unique creatures like the koala forever.
The iconic style of Gillie and Marc’s Thick Texture Paintings provide the tangible dimensions of a sculpture with the convenient spatial simplicity of a painting. Multiple layers of impasto are mixed with the paint. With each piece, Gillie and Marc are sharing a part of their unique experience through choppy brushstrokes and captivating visuals that create a harmonious image that is more than just a painting.
Please note: All canvases come stretched and ready to hang, however if you would like your painting to be framed, Gillie and Marc are happy to provide this service for you at your request. For framing enquiries please email us.
It is important to keep your painting out of direct sunlight and not to lean anything against the surface of the canvas. If it gets dusty, it can be cleaned with a soft dry cloth.
