Storm leaves a fish out of water

The Sydney Morning Herald

Powerful storms swept across most regions of the city on Friday, prompting warnings about large hailstones, heavy rainfall and damaging winds, and sending shoppers dashing for cover.

The threat to commuters heading home, though, has now passed – unless they are heading north to regions such as the Hunter, the Bureau of Meteorology said.

“All the dynamics of the atmosphere came together for a short time,” Mohammed Nabi, a Bureau of Meteorology forecaster, said. “It was a short, sharp event.”
