About the Project
Rabbitwoman and Dogman embody a love and friendship that transcend differences, inviting us to embrace open-mindedness and connection. In Happy Birthday Mr. President, Rabbitwoman transforms into the legendary Marilyn Monroe, playfully captured by one of the artists’ signature Paparazzi Dogs. This sculpture humorously reflects society’s fascination with celebrity culture while also exploring deeper themes of self-awareness and identity.
Rabbitwoman has always represented the duality of human nature and the intrinsic bond between humans and animals. By embodying Marilyn’s iconic pose with her skirt billowing in the breeze, Rabbitwoman becomes a symbol of femininity, allure, and the timeless quest for self-discovery. This piece challenges viewers to reflect on the question, “Am I conscious?”, a meditation on self-awareness, personal identity, and the influence of media and fame on our perceptions of self.
By using humor and whimsy, Happy Birthday Mr. President offers an accessible yet profound commentary on our relationship with stardom and self-perception. On display in Salamanca Square, Hobart, this striking bronze sculpture merges pop culture with artistic symbolism, inviting passersby to engage with its playful yet thought-provoking message.
