Description
A little slice of France made it’s way to the bustling city of Sydney in the form of the trendy cafe Auvers. Auvers is a little village in the suburbs of Paris and is where the famous artist, Vincent Van Gough lived and created many of his iconic paintings. The cafe has kept this theme of art and creation at it’s core, exuding creativity, both through the walls as well as the incredibly presented food, a work of art in and of itself.
Inspired by the great painter at the heart of Auvers, Gillie and Marc created a sensational mural for the cafe which covers an entire wall. Their beloved lovers, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, zip through the sleepy village of Auvers, coffee in hand and Van Gough sunflowers blossoming around them. As the customers enjoy the exquisite food, they can sit amongst the art, soaking it in and being transported to a to a romantic French village with very talented artists.

One of the great things about owning a convertible was that Dogman could always show off how special Rabbitwoman was to all of his friends, and anyone who just happened to be near. He was so proud of her and wanted to show the world how very special she was. He would never put the hood down because then they couldn’t see her.

Description
Gillie and Marc’s woodcuts are an exciting explosion between painting and sculpture. With a love for both 2D and 3D work, they have created a unique style which is - in essence - sculptured paintings.
Gillie and Marc spent a lot of their early creative life in Ubud, Bali, the home of painted wood carvings. They began to collect many Balinese wood carvings and learned how to artistically paint wood. Over the years they experimented in relief woodcuts looking to give it a contemporary feel. Much of their inspiration is looking at traditional art forms like bronze sculpture and wood carving and then creating ways to make it contemporary.
They are excited and proud to introduce “Woodcut POP". These are carved wooden panels primed and sealed and then painted with a pop gloss enamel. These vibrant and exciting works allow the 2D paintings to fly off the wall giving excitement and dimension to wall art. Rabbitgirl and Dogman literally pop off the wall in a 3D effect. The modern explosion of colour and vibrancy is contemporary art at its cutting edge.

Gillie and Marc’s world-famous paparazzi dogs have been turned into a mural and ask us an important question. As a society, we’re obsessed with photographing every moment, from our morning coffees to our evening commutes. When we’re not capturing our own experiences, we’re desperate to see other people’s, none more so than celebrities’. But what happens when the cameras are turned on us without our consent or even our knowledge? The Paparazzi Pack reminds us that the glare of the camera flash isn’t always pleasant, and that just as we’re free to enjoy our morning coffees in peace, so should everyone else.

Description
In 2015, Gillie and Marc jumped at the chance to join world famous street artists such as Lister, Mulga and Birdhat bring their work to Bondi as part of the Activated Walls Project. On the first Monday of every month, both established and emerging artists are invited to paint murals on various Bondi locations as a way to breathe life into urban environments. As Bondi locals themselves, Gillie and Marc loved playing tribute to sunshine, waves and buff bodies. They painted their iconic Dogman and Rabbitgirl on the popular Italian café, La Piadina. Owner, Fausto Zizioli personally wrote to them, “Thank you! Firstly it was a great pleasure to meet you in person. We really love the soul you put on our walls.” Even though their mural has been painted over to make way for more artists to join in, one of Gillie and Marc’s Lost Dogs sculptures proudly sits on top of the café wall, where he spends countless days soaking up the rays, people watching. Read their blog post for a behind-the-scenes look on how the created the work and hear Gillie and Marc's thoughts on the project.
