They Enjoyed the Quiet Time with Friends is a permanent interactive bronze sculpture by internationally renowned artists Gillie and Marc, now installed at Brookfield Place Perth. The work features their beloved characters Rabbitwoman and Dogman seated together on a bench, quietly reading side by side and leaning gently into one another. It captures the romance of shared stillness, the comfort of companionship, and the beauty of life’s simplest moments.
Created as an invitation to pause, connect, and reflect, the sculpture offers a rare sense of calm within the energy of the city. Visitors are encouraged to sit beside Rabbitwoman and Dogman, take a photograph, read a book, or simply enjoy a moment of quiet in the heart of Brookfield Place. Cast in durable bronze and designed for public interaction, the work becomes not just something to look at, but something to experience.
As with much of Gillie and Marc’s public art, They Enjoyed the Quiet Time with Friends is grounded in the belief that art should be accessible, emotional, and shared. Through warmth, storytelling, and gentle humour, the sculpture transforms an everyday act into something deeply meaningful — reminding us that even in the busiest places, there is beauty in slowing down and being present with those we love.
