Rhino Wild Ride at Sophie’s Gasthaus, Texas
Now on display at Sophie’s Gasthaus in Texas, Rhino Wild Ride is a powerful monument to the endangered species across the world that need our help. Part of Gillie and Marc’s global Love The Last campaign, the sculpture uses public art to raise awareness, inspire action, and support conservation efforts for some of the planet’s most vulnerable animals.
Perched proudly atop the rhino are Rabbitwoman and Dogman, Gillie and Marc’s beloved symbols of unity, acceptance, and love. Together, they invite visitors not only to admire the artwork but to become part of it. This is not a sculpture that says “Do Not Touch.” Instead, it encourages people to climb aboard, take a seat, and experience the artwork from a new perspective.
The interactive sculpture serves as a reminder that conservation is not something that happens somewhere else—it is a cause that belongs to all of us. By sitting alongside Rabbitwoman and Dogman, visitors become ambassadors for wildlife protection and join a growing global community committed to safeguarding endangered species.
The inspiration for Rhino Wild Ride stems from Gillie and Marc’s deeply personal conservation journey. In 2018, the artists unveiled The Last Three in New York City as a tribute to the Northern White Rhino. Tragically, just weeks after the sculpture's opening, Sudan—the last male Northern White Rhino—passed away, bringing the species to the brink of extinction.
While the loss was heartbreaking, the public response was extraordinary. Thousands of people visited the sculpture, shared messages of hope, signed petitions to help combat the illegal rhino horn trade, and donated to conservation efforts supporting Ol Pejeta Conservancy and the endangered animals under its protection.
Today, Rhino Wild Ride continues that mission. It stands as both a celebration of these magnificent creatures and a call to action, reminding us that there is still time to protect the wildlife we have left.
Take a photo with Rabbitwoman, Dogman, and their rhino companion, share it using #LoveTheLast, and help spread the message of conservation before it is too late.
