About the Exhibition
In 2012, Gillie and Marc were commissioned to create an unforgettable statement piece for the grand opening of the Ying Ren Hotel in Beijing’s Huairou District — famously known as the Hollywood of China.

The result was Paparazzi Boy — an eight-metre-tall, larger-than-life Dogman, completely nude except for his camera and a perfectly sculpted six-pack. Painted in bold fire-truck red, China’s national colour, he was designed to demand attention from every passer-by.

Standing guard at the hotel’s entrance, Paparazzi Boy greeted guests like true A-listers, snapping their photos as they arrived. These images were then projected onto the lobby wall, immersing visitors in the exhilarating feeling of being a celebrity under the flashing lights.

The project, which took a full year to complete, quickly became a signature feature of the hotel and a must-see attraction for visitors to China’s Hollywood.
