But the best reason was it gave them an excuse to hold tightly and have a secret cuddle for the whole trip, it was just perfect.

Description Ear piercings are one of the oldest known forms of body modifications. Earrings can be dated back as far as ancient Persia, ancient Egypt and has even been referenced in the bible. Having your ears pierced is also a coming-of-age ritual in various cultures all over the world. When Marc was 20 and living in Israel he asked his friend to pierce four holes in his right ear. Marc made all his own jewellery and would mix up the colours and materials. When he took his first corporate job, he decided to take out his earrings, but he still can be seen wearing them from time to time. Artwork Features Imagine if we could wear our art so close to our souls that we end up embodying its beauty and meaning. Gillie and Marc have always appreciated creative pieces of jewellery, so it was only a matter of time before they decided to think outside the jewellery box and take jewellery to a whole new level by turning it into art wear.
Gillie and Marc’s gorgeous range of art wear is handcrafted from the highest quality of hypoallergenic materials. And as a beautiful bonus, a percentage of profits goes to various notable charities to protect animals in need. So embody your art, and buy jewellery that can change the world forever.
Gillie and Marc’s sterling silver is made of 92.5% pure silver + 7.5% alloys (a mixture of metals: brass, copper and zinc). It is nickel free.
Care Instructions Clean your silver jewellery with a mild soap and water and then dry with a soft cloth. For more stubborn dirt, use a cleaner designed for silver use. Store your silver in a cool, dry place. Do not rub silver with anything other than a polishing cloth. Tissue paper or paper towels can cause scratches.

Description It Was Soup Time is a playful and thought-provoking stencil painting that reimagines a classic American icon through a contemporary lens. Inspired by Andy Warhol’s famous Campbell’s Soup Cans, this artwork presents a whimsical and unexpected twist on the familiar image. At the heart of the piece is a giant Campbell’s soup can, serving as a cozy home for a rabbitwoman and a dogman. The rabbitwoman, with her gentle demeanor, wraps her arms around the dogman, who looks out at the viewer with a contented expression. The pair's unconventional companionship and cozy arrangement create a sense of warmth and comfort. The bold colors and graphic elements of the painting evoke a sense of pop art nostalgia, while the unexpected juxtaposition of a soup can and anthropomorphic animals invites viewers to question their perceptions and find humor in the ordinary. The phrase “It Was Soup Time” adds a touch of whimsy and nostalgia, inviting viewers to recall cherished memories of childhood and simple pleasures.

Description Flowers are remarkable things. They are beautiful, smell delicious, and have such an incredible calming power. Rabbitwoman and Dogman loved giving each other little flower gifts, picking their favourites as they stroll down the streets. Dogman had found some particularly beautiful ones today. They were so excited to sit back and soak in the power of the flowers.
Artwork Features Gillie and Marc’s latest work is an exciting explosion between their painting and sculpture. With a love for both 2D and 3D work they have created a unique style of work which are in essence sculptured paintings.
Gillie and Marc spent a lot of their early creative life in Ubud, Bali. This was the home of painted wood carvings. They began to collect many Balinese wood carvings and learned how to artistically paint wood. Over the years they experimented in relief woodcuts looking to give it a contemporary feel. Much of their inspiration is looking at traditional art forms like bronze sculpture and wood carving and then creating ways to make it contemporary.
They are excited and proud to introduce their latest and favourite collection “Woodcut POP". These are carved wooden panels primed and sealed and then painted with a pop gloss enamel. These vibrant and exciting works allow the 2D paintings to fly off the wall giving excitement and dimension to wall art. Rabbitgirl and Dogman literally pop off the wall in a 3D effect. The modern explosion of colour and vibrancy is contemporary art at its cutting edge.
Galleries, collectors and corporates across the globe have already fallen in love with Woodcut POP with 10 major commissions now in progress.

Artwork Features The purest example of the artist’s freehand work, Gillie and Marc’s ‘Contemporary Line & Stencil Paintings’ are a stunning series that pairs unashamedly bold colors with deep black line work to form intimate moments featuring their signature alter egos, endangered wildlife and more. The carefully selected vivid colors and unmistakable imagery means no two pieces are alike and can have multiple meanings the more they are viewed. Gillie and Marc paint each unique canvas side-by-side ensuring love is engrained in every brushstroke of each one-of-a-kind work of art. Recently inspired by the pop style of Andy Warhol and the iconic stencils of street artists Banksy and Mr. Brainwash, Gillie and Marc expanded their collection with the edgy addition of using spray paint stencils on their canvases. The stark contrast of bright colors beneath a dark stencil breathes life into this limited series, embodying Gillie and Marc’s philosophy of the importance of accessible art by playfully bringing the street to the canvas.
Please note: All canvases come stretched and ready to hang, however if you would like your painting to be framed, Gillie and Marc are happy to provide this service for you at your request. For framing enquiries please email us.
Care Instructions It is important to keep your painting out of direct sunlight and not to lean anything against the surface of the canvas. If it gets dusty, it can be cleaned with a soft dry cloth.

Description Artists Gillie and Marc Schattner, on August 26, Women’s Equality Day 2019, are bringing to life a dream, the move towards equal representation in women statues.
In a moment of deep self-reflection, they realized they had been contributing to the lack of women representation in their public art. However, the artists decided they could not sit back and let history repeat itself. Something has to change, and so with their new project, ‘Statues for Equality’, they have self-funded ten new women statues.
Because of this project, New York is becoming the first city to change the dynamics considerably - as the ten women are launched as statues the number will jump from 3% to 9%. The project will launch at RXR Realty’s iconic Avenue of the Americas.
Joining ‘Statues for Equality’ are ten portraits of each woman in a groundbreaking new show that expresses diversity and gender equality. Exhibiting alongside their permanent statue sisters at 61 Broadway, NYC, they will be on show for the public for 12 months. The women are painted on fabric from around the world, just as they as women represent the diversity of womankind, as does the soft materials that embody strength. Each piece has its own texture, shape, and feel.
The women’s faces are depicted in black and white, revealing the fine attention to detail from the artists; each line becomes part of the narrative of the portraits. However, their hair and clothes are full of colour and patterns. Flowing from the women they extend these versions and ideals of how women present themselves in society.
The use of fabric can take literal meaning; even though the material is soft, beautiful, and used as a way to express individuality. Fabric is also a carrier, babies are held close to us in wraps of material; goods and objects are transported for when we cannot hold everything; and it dresses us, for warmth and support.
The metaphor extends into the roles of women, and Gillie and Marc’s clever use of this medium, reminds us again, how important women are to our lives and the basis of society. Fabric is also another way to show our individuality.
Just as the ten women statues, made out of bronze, who will stand larger than life can teach us something about diversity and gender equality; as can these softer, tender moments of intimate and feminine representatives.
For the next 12 months, Gillie and Marc are aiming to paint 100 women, voted for by the public, who inspire greatness in our societies.
#womenforequality will become an extension of #statuesforequality – use the hashtag to vote for the most inspirational women you know, and take a photo with the paintings and statues to share Gillie and Marc’s message of equality.
Artwork Features Mixing two elements together, paint and fabric, these fabric paintings create a unique, 3-dimensional piece of art. With added texture, patterns, and depth from the fabrics, these paintings are transformed into something so much more exciting than a normal painting. Using beautiful fabrics from all over the world, these paintings are laced with fun, using patterns and colors in unusual places giving a different perspective on how things should look.

Description "Jamila, the disappearing Nyala deer" is a captivating painting that captures the essence of the endangered African Nyala deer. The focal point of the artwork is the Nyala deer, facing the camera with a gaze that conveys both vulnerability and resilience. Behind the deer, a moving silhouette in pastel colors represents the gradual disappearance of these magnificent creatures. The use of loose flowing brushstrokes and the juxtaposition of vibrant hues together with the pastels create a sense of urgency and fragility. This painting serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need to protect and preserve these endangered species before they vanish forever.

Description Perhaps the world’s most noted conservationist, Dame Jane Morris Goodall DBE is an English primatologist, anthropologist, and the world’s foremost expert on chimpanzees. Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, Goodall is well regarded for the many decades of study she has done on social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees.
Unheard of at the time, Goodall began her solo study of endangered chimps in 1960 in Tanzania, despite having no collegiate training. Doing this resulted in Goodall observing the chimps in a subversive manner, publishing revolutionary findings, and becoming the only human to be accepted into a chimpanzee society.

Description Im not bad. Im just drawn that way The rabbit is one of Gillie and Marcs favourite hybrids and they didn't just chose the rabbit for Jessica Rabbit because she married one and took his name. They saw qualities in the rabbit that were completely different to the qualities Jessica Rabbit is said to possess. Rabbits are timid prey animals, with acute hearing and sight who become startled very easily. They run away at the slightest jolt, and get very anxious. Jessica Rabbit was depicted as a woman with endless confidence, who held men captive. Her impossible curves quickly became iconic and in Who Framed Roger Rabbit men constantly fawned and obsessed over her. Its definitely fair to say that if Jessica Rabbit were a real woman she would be very intimidating. So when Gillie and Marc wanted to create a life-size bronze Jessica Rabbit it was important to them to turn her into a hybrid that would make her less intimidating.

Description Kenny Russell was a revered jockey who won four premierships before being tragically killed during a race at the age of 42. Even more heartbreaking, his wife Carol was in the crowd and witnessed his death. However, after his death the horse racing community came together with kindness and compassion to support the late Russell’s widow. There is now a memorial race in his honour at the Callaghan Park, which she regularly attends. Gillie and Marc were commissioned by North Burnett Council to replace the beloved fiberglass sculpture of the late jockey. The last artwork, made by a different artist, was sadly deteriorating which his quite common with fibreglass. The artists worked closely with Carol to create a more accurate sculpture that would more closely reflect Kenny’s facial features.

Description Jotto's Story The 21st of March began as a particularly fraught day for us, beginning with the news that two orphaned elephants were in need of rescue at different ends of the country; one having fallen down a well in the Namunyak Conservancy in Northern Kenya, and the other possibly a victim of poaching in Tsavo East National Park found near a huge lone rock named “Sobo”, close to the Eastern boundary of the Park. Were this not enough, we then received the tragic news that one of our Elephant Keepers based at the Voi Rehabilitation Unit had suddenly collapsed and died very suddenly and unexpectedly whilst out in the bush with the orphans, which was heart-breaking for all the 'David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust' (DSWT) team. Jotto is part of Gillie and Marc's exhibition - The Orphans.

This is a sculpture that represents more than orphaned calves. This is a yearlong celebration of hope and strength for the generation who will grow up into the healthy and supported elephants of tomorrow thanks to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The future of their species in the wild relies on this young generation being strong. Strength we can all help to provide. Because by December next year, when this sculpture leaves London, they’ll have only 19 years left to defy the odds with another generation to follow. This is a sculpture for positive change. One we won’t let become a memorial.

The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT) is one of East Africa’s oldest and most pioneering conservation charities. Protecting elephants is at the heart of what we do, operating the most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world. But we do far more beyond this critical project. From Anti-Poaching to Mobile Veterinary Units, Aerial Surveillance to Saving Habitats and Community Outreach to Water for Wildlife, we work to give hope to Africa’s wild animals and habitats and secure a safe and bright future for wildlife and those people living alongside wild species.
Description Rabbitwoman and Dogman were not the types to slowly creep into the water, letting each inch of their body get accustomed to the cold one step at a time. They dove straight in! They thought this was the most fun. But also a perfect metaphor for how they lived their lives. Throwing caution to the wind they would dive into all sorts of things. It always ended up with the best adventures.

Description Dogman and Rabbitwoman were deeply in love, and their adventures often took them to the most exotic and magical places. Today, they found themselves in a stunningly beautiful and colourful jungle, where the air was thick with the scent of exotic flowers and the songs of tropical birds. They were riding on the back of a massive rhinoceros, its powerful legs carrying them effortlessly through the dense vegetation. As they rode, they marveled at the incredible wildlife around them, including playful monkeys swinging from tree to tree and majestic tigers wandering through the jungle. It was a truly breathtaking sight, and Dogman and Rabbitwoman were grateful to be able to experience it together.
Artwork Features The purest example of the artist’s freehand work, Gillie and Marc’s ‘Contemporary Line & Stencil Paintings’ are a stunning series that pairs unashamedly bold colours with deep black line work to form intimate moments featuring their signature alter egos, endangered wildlife and more. The carefully selected vivid colours and unmistakable imagery means no two pieces are alike and can have multiple meanings the more they are viewed. The stark contrast of bright colours beneath a dark stencil breathes life into this limited series, embodying Gillie and Marc’s philosophy of the importance of accessible art by playfully bringing the street to the canvas.
Please note: All canvases come stretched and ready to hang, however if you would like your painting to be framed, Gillie and Marc are happy to provide this service for you at your request. For framing enquiries please email us.

We're creating a new series of bronze works featuring our favourite Aussie animals, so of course we wanted to experiment with Australia's quintessential animal - the Kangaroo. Kangarooboy was modelled off our son Ben who is very athletic and has the perfect physique to show off the Red Kangaroos strength and power. We also got him to pose in the iconic way that the big reds like to laze about in the sun. Young male Red Kangaroos are also notorious for being boxers, so our Kangarooboy wears his boxers as a tongue-in-cheek nod to his unique animal behaviour.

Description Date of Birth: Estimated July 2017
Rescued from a Paris apartment, where he was kept as a pet, in 2017. Lives at Born Free’s big cat sanctuary in South Africa.
Inspired by the true story and the film ‘Born Free’, this sculpture is a celebration of an orphaned lion cub who was saved by a loving couple. In Northern Kenya, a game warden called George Adamson was sent to deal with a lion who killed a man. Finding three cubs that were left behind he took them home to his wife, Joy, naming them Big One, Lastika and Elsa. They raised the cubs themselves rehoming two at a zoo. But they had formed a special connection with Elsa. They decided to release her to the wild and started the difficult journey of teaching her to fend for herself. After a lot of setbacks including a lack of hunting skills, being attacked by a warthog, and even becoming seriously injured after a different attack, Elsa found her feet. With a lot of hard work and dedication, they taught her how to be a wild cat and set her free in Kenya. Elsa grew to have cubs of her own, starting a new generation of lions that would have never been.
In the sculpture, Elsa stands on a 1961 landrover surrounded by orphan cubs, 20 in total. There are also two couples of adult lions, George and Joy, and Bill and Virginia, representing the real-life couple who raised the little orphaned Elsa, and the actors who played them in the movie. The cubs symbolise the future generations of lions.

The gorilla is a majestic animal and, as it shares 98% of our DNA, is one of our closest relatives. But our cousins are in trouble. There may only be 1000 mountain gorillas left in the wild and fewer than 3800 eastern lowland gorillas. And humans are the reason why. Illegal poaching, war and deforestation are making it harder and harder for this beautiful animal to survive. It’s up to us to save them.
Gillie and Marc have created this monumental sculpture entitled King Nyani. Nyani is ‘gorilla’ translated in Swahili. While traveling in Uganda, Africa, they became entranced by a silverback. The kindness, compassion and empathy he showed for his family made Gillie and Marc want to share the gentle side of this special creature with the world – a side that is often overlooked. Inspired by the iconic story of King Kong, the artists decided to give New York a different slant on the story. Now New York can fall in love rather than cower in fear as they see his true nature, while becoming the new champions for gorillas and their conservation.
This installation is the largest bronze gorilla sculpture on the planet and gives an interactive experience unlike any other. With his hand large enough to hold one or two people, the public can get up close and personal with this gentle giant where they will undoubtedly fall in love with him. In the movie, Kong picks up Ann in his hand to protect her. Now all of New York is invited to sit in his hand where it’s our turn to protect him.
King Nyani is the artists’ interpretation of this magnificent animal, and is intended to represent all gorillas, including mountain and lowland gorillas. He is part of the broader ‘Love The Last’ project – a social movement driven by public art to raise awareness, funds and support for endangered animals across the world, and to encourage people to take action before we lose these animals forever.
Help share King Nyani’s story through the hashtag #LoveTheLast
About WWF For close to 60 years, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has been working to protect both people and the natural world, aiming to protect the delicate balance in which our entire planet hangs. As the world’s leading organization for conservation, WWF works all around the world, collaborating with people from all walks of life to develop and deliver innovative solutions that protect all living things – people, animals and the environment.
WWF has been working successfully on many different strategies to protect gorillas. They have established a monitoring system for the illegal trade of gorillas while advocating for nations to enforce wildlife laws more effectively and educating communities on the dangers of eating bushmeat. They have also trained and provided equipment to local authorities to help combat poaching, conducted research to monitor populations, established protected areas to preserve gorilla habitats and established and promoted ecotourism, an initiative that positively benefits both gorillas and local people. As a result of WWF’s work, mountain gorilla numbers have increased by 17% in the Virunga Mountains, bringing a species back from the brink of extinction and making it the only wild ape in the world with an increasing population. Their integrated approach to conservation has proven to be effective.
By supporting WWF you are ensuring that these beautiful creatures remain on the planet and that their habitat, which as the world’s second-largest remaining rainforest plays a critical role in mitigating climate change, survives for generations to come. You are also helping to improve the lives of local community members and ensure they are part of developing long-term, sustainable conservation solutions for gorillas.

Description Kiombo's Story On 17th March Robert Carr-Hartley received a phone call from Governor Samuel Tunai of Narok County, the County which the Masai Mara Reserve falls within. He was calling in regard to reports of an orphaned elephant whose plight had come to his attention.
Kiombo is part of Gillie and Marc's exhibition - The Orphans.

Description Between habitat destruction and disturbance from humans, especially in the form of cars driving at high speeds, koalas have had an extremely hard time for years. Add to that the drought and bushfire season of 2019/2020, during which up to 10,000 koalas died, and the situation for these marsupials is now more urgent than ever. Thankfully, this little koala has found a respite. At the top of his ladder, where humans and fires can’t reach him, he closes his eyes and rests.

Description Koalas are interesting creatures. These seemingly lazy animals are solitary, becoming aggressive if another koala invades their territory. But that is not the whole story! Koalas prefer to live close together, one to a tree. Even if there are many trees to choose from, it seems they find comfort in the presence of other koalas (as long as they don’t come too close!) We like to think of this like a sibling relationship: they squabble and fight, trying to gain the best food and positions. But when it comes down to it, they really love each other and are never far away to give help when needed.

Description Chimps are one of our closest relatives sharing 99% of our DNA. This chimp loves his morning stroll as much as we do. There is nothing better than being out in nature, being wild and free.
Artwork Features In this highly expressive and passionate style Gillie and Marc have let their emotions run free in this explosive collection of freehand painting. Inspired by the styles of Brett Whiteley, Francis Bacon, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Gillie and Marc have combined enamel paint with oil pastel to breathe life into the worlds most endangered species. Over the past five years, Gillie and Marc spent hours sketching and studying wildlife, travelling the globe to meet these animals up close. These sketches have now been brought to life in vibrant colour with love and passion. Each painting is created as a team with both the artists bringing their own emotion into every painting.

Description They say laughter is the best medicine, and kookaburras have it in spades. Their laughing call is a lovely reminder to take a break, find the lighter side of life and not take things too seriously all the time. But kookaburras also demonstrate that we should work as hard as we play. Mating for life, these birds pair off and then share incubation duties of their eggs, and then share feeding and caring duties of their hatchlings. This equal partnership between all kookaburras in caring for future generations is something each of us can aspire to.
