Contemporary Pop Realism, Wildlife
Description
The painting captures an endangered wombat perched comfortably within the confines of a walking shoe, beautifully conveying a powerful message. The image symbolizes the growing threat faced by these remarkable creatures, as their natural habitats are increasingly encroached upon by human activities. The wombat's presence within the shoe serves as a poignant reminder of the shrinking space available for wildlife, as urbanization and human expansion continue to infringe upon their territories. The juxtaposition of a wild animal within a symbol of human accomplishment highlights the need for awareness and action in safeguarding these unique creatures and their habitats. This painting encourages us to consider the impact of our actions on the natural world and calls for responsible stewardship, demonstrating the delicate balance required to preserve the extraordinary diversity of our planet's ecosystems.

Inspired by pop artists such as Andy Warhol and mixed with beautifully realistic animals using their iconic thick texture painting style, this Pop Realism collection is bringing the wild into our lives in a striking yet joyous experience.
Over the past five years, Gillie and Marc spent hours sketching and studying wildlife, travelling the globe to meet these animals up close. These sketches have now been brought to life in vibrant colour with love and passion. Each painting is created as a team with both the artists bringing their own emotion into every painting.

Description
When the fires raged in Australia at an unprecedented rate, the wombats were some of the lucky ones who could scurry down into their burrows to escape the flames. But escaping the flames is one thing, surviving the fires is completely different. As the wombats emerged from their burrows, they found a landscape that had been decimated, devoid of any food and shelter, leaving them just as vulnerable as their fellow animals who had to outrun the flames. As part of the series ‘Come out for a better tomorrow’, this wombat is climbing out of a manhole, forcing us to remember its existence and asking us to work together to save it. This sculpture series calls for awareness of our impact on the world and to allow every living creature the right to feel safe and loved.
What started as an entry to the prolific sculpture event, Sculpture By The Sea in Sydney 2018, turned into a global phenomenon. With many different endangered animals tentatively popping out of manholes in the ground, ‘Come out come out wherever you are’ drew attention to all the animals of the world who are dying because of humans. By bringing a reminder to people who would not usually see them, this sculpture calls for greater awareness of our impact on the beautiful creatures of the world and calls for everyone to allow every living creature the right to feel safe. The sculpture won the Allen’s People’s Choice Award in Sydney, with over 1 million votes cast. People all around the world identified with the sculptures and wanted to be a part of better tomorrow.
Now, Gillie and Marc are continuing with their dream of creating a better tomorrow through art. By extending the idea of the original sculpture, Gillie and Marc are now creating more and more of their manhole creations. With not only endangered animals popping out of the manholes, Gillie and Marc have also extended this to all living things; animals, trees, and even Dogman! Everyone, whether that be humans, animals, young or old, should feel welcomed, feel safe, and be accepted. There should be no reason to hide from the world. Everything is important and should be protected and loved.

Description
Gillie and Marc’s woodcuts are an exciting explosion between painting and sculpture. With a love for both 2D and 3D work, they have created a unique style which is - in essence - sculptured paintings.
Gillie and Marc spent a lot of their early creative life in Ubud, Bali, the home of painted wood carvings. They began to collect many Balinese wood carvings and learned how to artistically paint wood. Over the years they experimented in relief woodcuts looking to give it a contemporary feel. Much of their inspiration is looking at traditional art forms like bronze sculpture and wood carving and then creating ways to make it contemporary.
They are excited and proud to introduce “Woodcut POP". These are carved wooden panels primed and sealed and then painted with a pop gloss enamel. These vibrant and exciting works allow the 2D paintings to fly off the wall giving excitement and dimension to wall art. Rabbitgirl and Dogman literally pop off the wall in a 3D effect. The modern explosion of colour and vibrancy is contemporary art at its cutting edge.

Contemporary Sculpture, Figurative, ANZAC Memorial Statue
Location
Warragamba, NSW
Description
The Warragamba ANZAC Committee commissioned Gillie and marc to create a bronze, life size replica of an ANZAC soldier standing, head bowed in remembrance. The sculpture was unveiled during Remembrance Day 2018. The design of the combined memorial is as follows: The sandstone plinths are original core samples from Warragamba Dam and have been donated by the Water Board. The plinth facing west represents the traditional orientation during remembrance of all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The plinth facing east represents the promise of a new day, a statement that those who worked on Warragamba Dam expected to return home to see another day. The two (2) plinths back to back represent the opposing expectations of those who have died. The soldier ready to lay down his life for his country.
The dam worker expecting to return home. Yet both face the same fate. The pattern surrounding both plinths represents the rising sun with the centre most section, the sun and the radiating lines the sun's rays.
The design and construction of the memorial was undertaken by the Works Division of Wollondilly Shire council. Funds were provided by the Federal Government through the Wollondilly Remembers Committee and Wollondilly Shire Council. Gillie and Marc were asked to add to this memorial by creating a bronze sculpture.

Description
The beautiful black and white striped zebra is an iconic animal, the creature that helps children learn the letter z in their ABC’s. But the zebra is in trouble. The herds are shrinking and struggling for survival. Loss of land for expanding agriculture, competition with livestock for food and water, war, and climate change, have left the zebra with an uncertain future. As part of the series ‘Come out for a better tomorrow’, this zebra is cautiously poking its head out of a manhole, forcing us to remember its existence and asking us to work together to save it. This sculpture series calls for awareness of our impact on the world and to allow every living creature the right to feel safe and loved.
What started as an entry to the prolific sculpture event, Sculpture By The Sea in Sydney 2018, turned into a global phenomenon. With a close up of Australia’s most threatened bird and one of the world’s rarest parrots, the orange-bellied parrot, this unique form of conservation lets us see the last 50 wild individuals left on the planet with a beautiful close up.
“It can be difficult to imagine what extinction looks like so we wanted to create a work that would help the public visually understand what this means,” explains Gillie.
With 50 stunning paintings, the artists have captured the dwindling numbers of this endangered parrot in a series that can all fit on one wall. It is a sobering exhibit to help bring understanding to this important issue and inspire conservation.

The purest example of the artist’s freehand work, Gillie and Marc’s ‘Contemporary Line & Stencil Paintings’ are a stunning series that pairs unashamedly bold colors with deep black line work to form intimate moments featuring their signature alter egos, endangered wildlife and more. The carefully selected vivid colors and unmistakable imagery means no two pieces are alike and can have multiple meanings the more they are viewed. Gillie and Marc paint each unique canvas side-by-side ensuring love is engrained in every brushstroke of each one-of-a-kind work of art. Recently inspired by the pop style of Andy Warhol and the iconic stencils of street artists Banksy and Mr. Brainwash, Gillie and Marc expanded their collection with the edgy addition of using spray paint stencils on their canvases. The stark contrast of bright colors beneath a dark stencil breathes life into this limited series, embodying Gillie and Marc’s philosophy of the importance of accessible art by playfully bringing the street to the canvas.
