Description Sometimes it wasn’t always the most appropriate to sit outside, especially when the wind picked up. It gave a peaceful cup of coffee a whole new meaning! In times like these they would often retreat to the safety of the inside, but sometimes they would brave the weather which always made for many laughs. Here, Rabbitwoman and Dogman have got caught up in an extra-large gust. They don’t seem to mind too much though, as long as the coffee falls in their mouth…

Description Expertly crafted in everlasting bronze and mirror stainless steel, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, Gillie and Marc’s most iconic hybrid characters, are off on a brand-new adventure, setting sail on…. a giant inflatable flamingo! This public sculpture experience is a bit different. With the world in a state of uncertainty, too much time has been put into negativity. The world needs a bit of respite, to be able to sit back, relax, and laugh a bit. It’s times like these when it’s more important than ever to keep on smiling and finding the positivity in life. Rabbitwoman and Dogman have already thrown off the negativity, chucked on their swimming trunks and jumped on board their inflatable flamingo. The flamingo, beautifully coated in stainless steel to really make it shine, is the perfect accessory for any trip to the water, exuding the ideas of fun in the sun and a time to enjoy and play. To make sure it’s not just Rabbitwoman and Dogman having fun, there is ample space behind Dogman for someone to jump on board and head out on the adventure too. It encourages people to let their inner silliness come to the surface and just have fun. If anyone is searching for that silver lining in these trying times, they can jump onboard the shining silver flamingo and know that everything will be alright. This sculpture is incredibly important to help boost the morale of the public. It is not trying to be anything other than joy, and that is exactly what people need right now. We need to laugh together, to play together, and remember to embrace the fun side of life. If we can do that, we can get through anything.

The artists have a soft spot for Vespas because it gives them an excuse to hold tightly to one another.Rabbitwoman takes the lead on the bike while Dogman gets cosy in the sidecar next to her, trusting her to take him somewhere incredible. With a seat on the back of the bike, this sculpture is interactive, allowing the public to jump on and be part of Rabbitwoman and Dogman’s next adventure. This amazing sculpture has been installed in major cities across the world to show love and acceptance and is part of the ‘Travel Everywhere With Love’ project.
Why Gillie and Marc has collaborated with The Brunswick, how that began, and how the artists decided to get involved working with The Brunswick.
The Brunswick in the heart of London is so much more than just a shopping centre. An establishment of the city, locals and tourists flock to the centre for their eclectic shopping options and exciting events. A safe space for everyone, The Brunswick hosts’ community events for all ages, backgrounds, and interests. From multicultural events such as a Bollywood night to an exhibition of fun and artistic sculptures of superheroes, The Brunswick gives the opportunity for everyone in the community to come together, learn about different cultures and interests, and have fun.
This inclusivity is a big reason why Gillie and Marc decided that The Brunswick would be a wonderful organisation to partner with. The artist’s sculptures promote understanding and openness, the key ingredients for a more loving and accepting community. The sculpture that they will be installing at The Brunswick is part of the broader project ‘Travel Everywhere With Love’. This is a global art project that is re-uniting the world with openness, unity, understanding and love. Understanding the significance of the travelling hybrid duo depicted in the sculptures, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, those who come across them will know that the hosting location believes in peace, harmony, and progress, which is exactly what The Brunswick stand for.
The sculpture they will get ‘Together Forever on Wheels’ incorporates two of Gillie and Marc’s most popular sculpture themes, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, Vespas, and coffee.
Rabbitwoman and Dogman are the artist’s favourite subjects for their art. Usually enemies in the animal world, our rabbit and dog can put their differences aside and come together with love and understanding as soul mates. Representing diversity and togetherness and without a definitive race, religion, or culture, they symbolize all people as one.Since they met while travelling, adventure and exploring have been a huge inspiration in Gillie and Marc’s work. Travelling gives the opportunity to discover the world, meet people of different cultures, and try new foods. It is such an important way to broaden horizons and become more understanding of those who are different. Rabbitwoman and Dogman are constantly off on different adventures, encouraging the public to step out of their front doors and fall in love with the world and the people and animals in it.
The artists have a soft spot for Vespas. Incredibly stylish and fun to zip around on, they also give an excuse to hold on tightly to one another. Coffee in hand, Rabbitwoman takes the lead on the bike while Dogman gets cosy in the sidecar next to her, trusting her to take him somewhere incredible.
The Brunswick will now join this project and will be linked to all the other sculptures across the globe in a community of love and acceptance.

Description Hippo Wild Ride is a monument to the endangered species across the world that need our help. ‘Love The Last’ series aims to use public art to raise awareness, funds, and support for the most vulnerable animals. Rabbitwoman and Dogman, who appear perched up on the hippo, are Gillie and Marc’s symbols of unity and acceptance. They bring people together, just as the artists bring the conservation message to you. Hippo Wild Ride is not an artwork that says do not touch, instead, copy the duo as they invite you to jump up on the interactive sculpture. Rabbitwoman and Dogman want you to sit and climb on the sculpture, and be part of the cause and mission. Use the hashtag #LoveTheLast to share a selfie with the hippo, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, and join in the conservation of these beautiful animals – before it’s too late.
Turgwe Hippo Trust considers the hippo in Hippo Wild Ride, as the most photogenic hippo, with a hairier head and light skin. Named Kuchek after conservationist Karen Paolillo’s childhood pony, this beloved animal wanted to stay with his family, refusing to leave, which is typical male bull behaviour.
As male hippos draw to maturity, they are usually driven out by their family to make way for future calves and as not to spar with the dominant bull. Kuchek, however, refused to leave and stayed with his family no matter how much they fought him (fighting is normal hippo behaviour). In her 28 years of conservation work, Paolillo has only seen this behaviour in bull hippos twice! At the age of 13, Kuchek became in charge of his own family – after his parents left – and is now the father of four calves.

In 2018, Gillie and Marc launched a tribute to the Northern White Rhino with their sculpture The Last Three, unveiled in the heart of New York City. Unfortunately, it couldn’t save Sudan, the last male of the species, who passed away just weeks after the opening of the sculpture.
Through this incredible sad period for conversation efforts, Gillie and Marc realised how the sculpture had captured the public’s attention both on the street and online.
Thousands of people had sent goodbye messages to the last three rhinos, signed the petition to crack down on the trade of illegal rhino horn; and, donated money to Ol Pejeta Conservancy to help protect the last two Northern White Rhinos and the other endangered species that call Ol Pejeta home.

Description World-famous artists create awe-inspiring public art in honour of Chinese New Year for Melbourne’s most unique shopping centre...bringing more than just good fortune to the city during ‘Year of the Dog’Melbourne’ St. Collins Lane, in partnership with internationally-renowned sculpture artists, Gillie and Marc, are proud to unveil a breathtaking new work of art on 260 Collins Street, honouring Chinese ‘Year of the Dog’.
The 190cm tall bronze installation features the artists’ iconic hybrid character named Dogman, holding a magnificent red apple. He knew this was going to be a year of good fortune, as the artwork is aptly titled, and aims to engage existing community residents while also attracting new visitors to this vibrant hub of multi-culturalism in Melbourne.
"In Chinese, the word for apple is ping. Ping also happens to be the word for peace this is a critical facet to the sculpture’s design,” says Gillie, partner to Marc and one of the artists behind Chinatown’s new public art. “In the face of last year’s unstable global landscape, an apple signifying peace holds particular importance by spreading the message of diversity and acceptance for all beings.” Marc echoed these sentiments saying, “Gillie and I feel deeply connected to this representation, as all of our art is built upon the foundation of love and togetherness.”
This dazzling sculpture can be found sharing a positive message and invigorating the experience in Melbourne’s new fashion flagship and dining destination, St. Collins Lane Shopping Centre. In Chinese tradition, when a dog enters a home it symbolizes the coming of good fortune. Dogs are loyal, clever and brave. Best friends to humans, they are known for having harmonious relationships with people from all-walks-of-life, and don’t discriminate against socio-economic status, race, religion, or orientation.
“We combined the powerful image of Dogman with an apple in the hopes of inspiring the public to be brave in the pursuit of a better world,” exclaimed Gillie. Gillie and Marc have worked side-by-side for over 25-years to create art as one. The artists first met on a film shoot in Hong Kong...then 7-days later, ran away to Nepal and married on the foothills of Mt. Everest. In the Chinese Zodiac chart, the dog and the rabbit are born to be a perfect pair. They understand each other by focusing on their similar traits, while facing difficulties with patience and open-minds. Coincidentally, Gillie and Marc are best known for their beloved characters –Dogman and Rabbitgirl –who tell the autobiographical tale of two opposites coming together to become best friends and soulmates.
As unlikely animal kingdom companions, the rabbit and the dog stand for diversity and acceptance. Gillie and Marc’s highly coveted private and public artworks can be found spreading this virtuous message to major cities all over the world, including New York, London, Sydney, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, and more! However, this year the artists feel very blessed to install their creation in honour of the ‘Year of the Dog’ on Collins Street in Marc’s hometown. This wondrous work of artist is sure to bring good fortune to all of Melbourne in 2018!

Meet Dogman and Rabbitwoman — two extraordinary hybrid beings whose very existence challenges the boundaries of difference. As unlikely companions from the animal kingdom, they stand side by side as a powerful symbol of unity, love, and acceptance. Together, they represent the beauty of diversity and the possibility of harmony between all people, regardless of race, religion, or belief.
In a world that too often feels divided, now is the time to come together. Dogman and Rabbitwoman invite everyone to join them at the Table of Love — a place of open hearts and meaningful connection. This table is more than a sculpture; it's a call to action. It’s where conversations begin, understanding grows, and empathy is shared.
The Table of Love asks something simple yet profound: for strangers to sit side by side, to listen, and to speak from the heart. In doing so, we begin to heal, to hope, and to move forward — together.

Description Gillie and Marc have always found Angelina Jolie to be a huge source of inspiration – largely due to her humanitarian efforts with conservation, education and women's rights. In this 2.2metre tall artwork titled Angelina Rabbitgirl — Stronger than ever, the Hollywood actress stands strong to show that even through all her ups and downs she will never give up. Angelina Rabbitgirl is dressed in the iconic thigh-high slit gown that the film star wore to the 2012 Oscars. The Atelier Versace black velvet dress made Jolie’s right leg the most talked about limb in celebrity history. This sculpture is part of the Celebrity Animal series – a posse of A-listers which includes Arnold ‘Stag’ Schwarzenegger, Pamela ‘Poodle’ Anderson, Dr ‘Bear’ Evil, Michael ‘Dog’ Jackson and Jessica Rabbit. “Everyone has a fascination with celebrity but it’s difficult to get close and engage them,” explained Gillie. “So we came up with the hybrid idea so everyone could have that feeling of a little bit of fame.” Marc said they were also parodying celebrity culture. “Celebrities are the new royalty and shopping centres are the new galleries of the world.”

Description Gillie and Marc’s Paparazzi Dogs are the world’s most notorious photographers. The four bronze Dogmen have sniffed out the rich and famous in Melbourne’s Federation Square, Woolloomooloo Wharf in Sydney, the Jing’an Sculpture Park in Shanghai, outside Raffles City Shops in Singpore, and New York’s Brooklyn and Greenwich Village. The sculptures have gone from being an art experiment about photographing celebrities to sought-after celebrities in their own right. When Gillie and Marc first launched the series, within days the life-sized dogs went viral with millions of visitors coming to see them. People from all over the world, along with celebrities such as Snoop Dog, were eager to pose with the Pap Dogs, quickly giving them a celebrity status. Trey Ratcliff, considered to be one of the world’s best contemporary photographers, also came and was followed by 500 professional photographers to take a photo of him Gillie and Marc had intentionally created the interactive piece to expose the pack mentality of the media and how we hunt celebrities to get their photo. “Trey is a celebrity in his own right,” explained Marc. “So it’s amazing that we finally have a photograph of life imitating art. It summed up everything the sculpture was intended to say.”

Description Exhibited at Woolloomooloo Wharf 2015.
Crab Riders is a three-piece artwork of three large-scale crabs, two of which are ridden by Dogman and Rabbitwoman. It was a part of the Sculpture by the Wharf Festival in Sydney’s glamorous Finger Wharf in Woolloomooloo. Crab Riders continues the artists’ passionate exploration of environmental issues while encouraging playful interaction from the public. Gillie and Marc believe that crabs are more symbolic than ever, in a world facing incredible environmental challenges. Crabs are resilient and strong, thanks to their thick exoskeleton, and are some of the most ancient creatures to walk among us. The artists wanted the march of the crabs to continue in the face of ocean warming, pollution and acidification. It’s very easy to only care about animals that are cuddly and cute, but Gillie and Marc believe we should find compassion for even the strangest and scariest animals. Dogman and Rabbitwoman sit peacefully on top of the crabs encouraging us to do the same with the crab who is riderless. Climbing aboard a crab is a unique and clever way to instantly build a bond with these amazing creatures. One of the crab sculptures has also been permanently installed in Frankston Pier in Victoria.

Description Featured in 2012 Sculptures By the Sea, Bondi Now installed permanently at McClelland Gallery & Sculpture Park, VIC Each year in Sydney an outdoor sculpture exhibition called Sculpture by the Sea takes place for four weeks along the coastal walk of Bondi and Tamarama. Gillie and Marc have been a part of this festival twice now and have taken out awards for their artworks that have been seen by over a half million people In 2012, the artists created The Travellers Have Arrived for the event. The festival director’s response was that it was “brilliantly modelled” and a highlight for many visitors. “Bondi is a pilgrimage,” Marc says “Backpackers from around the world flock there to call it home. The characters were inspired by Mary and Joseph. So the sculpture represents Bondi as a modern-day Bethlehem.” The Travellers Have Arrived exemplifies the way art can make us feel small. These artworks remind us that we’re just like everyone else, we’re never alone in our travels – whether they’re across the world or across town for coffee. We’re all just ants in an ant farm. The Travellers Have Arrived is now on permanent exhibition at the McClelland Sculpture Park in Langwarrin, Victoria. The McClelland Sculpture Park is Australia’s leading sculpture park, and an innovative space for contemporary sculpture to be shown.
Tell me a little bit about “The Travellers Have Arrived”? How was it made? What does it mean to you? How did it end up in Las Vegas? ’The Travellers Have Arrived’ was a piece we originally created for the renowned outdoor sculpture exhibition, ‘Sculpture by the Sea’ in Sydney, Australia in 2012. The original location, Bondi, is like a pilgrimage for travellers from all around the world searching for surf, adventure, and a place to call home. Expertly crafted from silicon bronze, the characters of the sculpture were inspired by Mary and Joseph on their famous pilgrimage, turning Bondi into a modern day Bethlehem. The sculpture reminds us that we’re just like everyone else, we’re never alone in our travels, whether that takes us across the world or across town for a coffee ’The Travellers Have Arrived’ was moved to New York City where it lived for two years, but The Cosmopolitan had their eye on it. After conversations with the hotel, we decided that Las Vegas and The Cosmopolitan were a wonderful location for ‘The Travellers’ to move on to.
What makes this public art a good fit for Las Vegas and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas? When The Cosmopolitan approached us with their desire to have the sculpture moved to their hotel, we realised it would be a great fit. Welcoming other travellers from all across the world to one of the top tourist destinations, ‘The Travellers Have Arrived’ would become a welcoming and comforting sight to all who are seeking comfort and companionship while away from their home. Just like it was for Bondi, Las Vegas would become the modern day Bethlehem. As a luxury hotel, The Cosmopolitan is a great fit, tying in with the luxurious qualities of bronze and the stylish and innovative concept of the design.
Were there any unique challenges in bringing this to/installing this in Las Vegas? Yes, the distance the sculpture had to be transported and the weight of it. The sculpture weighs one tonne worth of bronze, so it is very heavy. This created a logistical challenge with a distance of 2,232 miles to cover from New York City to Las Vegas.
Being a married couple, what are some of the challenges/advantages of working together? We are incredibly lucky to work as a couple because we believe we are soul mates. We have lived and worked side by side for the past 27 years and it has been absolutely wonderful. We spark creativity within each other and encourage one another to push ourselves out of our comfort zones. We have had the most wonderful experiences, such as travelling to Kenya to meet and study the final three white rhinos, which we then created a hugely successful public sculpture to promote the struggles of these beautiful animals. It is wonderful to work as a team and we would not change it for the world.
Public art by renowned artists has become increasingly accessible to tourists and locals in Las Vegas resort-casinos? Any thoughts on this? It is fantastic that public art is becoming more accessible. Public art makes a city richer in terms of history, culture, and beauty. It is a wonderful way of telling a story or giving an important message. It can tell the history of the city, or showcase what is important for the people. Having this story told in a way that millions of people can access on a regular basis shows the importance of these messages and sparks conversations and passion on a scale that a work in a gallery could never invoke. We have been using our sculpture projects to try to contribute to the change we want to see in the world. By showcasing important issues such as conservation and gender equality, we are planting the seed for change into the minds of all who see them, a seed that could eventually blossom into activism and change.

Description Early Morning Coffee is a three-metre tall sculpture of Dogman and Rabbitwoman peacefully enjoying their morning coffee. The artwork was first unveiled in the ritzy Sydney suburb of Double Bay where it wowed passersby for two years. School children would run past and laugh at their exposed genitals, or literally climb up on to them. Gillie and Marc are regulars at Double Bay and know that a good cup of a coffee and dining al fresco is a huge part of the neighbourhood’s culture. So they created an artwork that beautifully enhances this outdoorsy, modern lifestyle and community.

Description "Marilyn Rabbitwoman is Glowing" is a striking bronze sculpture that merges the worlds of pop culture and artistic symbolism. This piece features Rabbitwoman now embodying the iconic image of Marilyn Monroe with her skirt playfully blowing upwards. Rabbitwoman represents the duality of human nature and the connection between humans and animals. She embodies the concept of "Am I Conscious?"—a reflection on self-awareness and identity. By placing Rabbitwoman in Marilyn's legendary pose, the sculpture invites viewers to contemplate themes of femininity, allure, and the timeless quest for self-discovery.

Description Exhibited as part of The Harbour Sculpture Prize, July 30 - August 9, 2015, Deckhouse & Clarkes Point Reserve, Woolwich Exhibited on Woollomooloo Wharf, Sydney Exhibited at Jing'an Sculpture Park, Beijing Permanently located at Circle on Cavill Shopping Centre, Surfers Paradise Beach, QLD Gillie and Marc have spent the last 15 years based in Sydney, a city famous for its gorgeous surf beaches. The artists’ son, Ben, is an avid surfer. As a family they would hit the beach frequently to watch him catch waves. They found it absolutely mesmerising. The Wave Riders is a tribute to the lost art of tandem surfing. It was picked for display for the 2015 Sydney Harbour Sculpture Prize and was installed in Sydney’s Woolloomooloo Wharf for three months in the beginning of 2016. Surfing is a surprisingly social sport. Gillie and Marc also created The Wave Riders in the spirit of doing things together. Tandem surfing might have gone out of fashion in the sixtiese but these wave riders are perfectly in tune with each other, and able to find balance despite the odds. The sculpture is making waves around the world and has found a home both in the stunning luxury resort, Mantra Circle on Cavill in Surfers Paradise and the Jing'An Sculpture Park in Shanghai — the world’s biggest outdoor sculpture exhibition.

Description I just use my muscles as a conversation piece, like someone walking a cheetah down 42nd Street. The stag is possibly one of the most obvious and ubiquitous symbols for masculinity in our culture. Think deer heads mounted on the wall of a proud hunters lodge, and two stags locking their antlers to battle for a does attention. But, they spend their lives balanced on spindly ankles – darting and leaping like ballerinas and running away whenever they hear a loud noise or see a bright light. Arnie is an icon the self-made man and the embodiment of the American dream. Long before he was governing California, he was oiled-up and posing, in a manoeuvre so iconic you don't need to see his face to recognise him.
This is Arnie's most memorable pose, much more memorable than his wave from the podium when he was elected Governor. This is the pose that turned him into a bodybuilding icon and spurred millions to emulate his body. Arnie considered himself a sculpture, and Gillie and Marc continue to be fascinated by the way that he transformed his own body, as sculptors they're interested in the way he forced us to look at the male form in a new way. Gillie and Marc chose the stag head for him for it's complicated masculinity, it's second life as a decorative art form and it's European origin.

Description It's great to be a blonde. With low expectations, it's very easy to surprise people. You could be forgiven for considering poodles the pageant queens of the dog world they even seem to have a different posture than other dogs. They stand with their head held high and their chest out. Their fur is always perfectly permed and sometimes their owners even give them avant garde haircuts. Actually, theyre one of the smartest dog breeds. Theyre easy to train because they pay attention, and are loyal to their owners. Poodles are also very sensitive; they can suffer terrible separation anxiety and flinch if theyre touched unexpectedly. This is Pamela Anderson, as she will most likely be remembered in her high cut Baywatch swimsuit. For all the controversy she has courted in the tabloids over her career, shell always be an icon because of her famous figure. Gillie and Marc are intrigued by the way the public reacts to a famous figure like this with doll like proportions, that can seem so far away from ordinary. As Gillie and Marc considered how to turn Pamela into a hybrid they learnt more about her contradictions. She has walked the runway for Vivienne Westwood and signed copies of her book at Wal Marts. Shes married and divorced rock stars while campaigning fiercely for animal rights. During her time on the show that thrust her into the limelight she became the ultimate California girl, despite being Canadian. They feel they've found her perfect match in the deceptively clever poodle.

Description Im not bad. Im just drawn that way The rabbit is one of Gillie and Marcs favourite hybrids and they didn't just chose the rabbit for Jessica Rabbit because she married one and took his name. They saw qualities in the rabbit that were completely different to the qualities Jessica Rabbit is said to possess. Rabbits are timid prey animals, with acute hearing and sight who become startled very easily. They run away at the slightest jolt, and get very anxious. Jessica Rabbit was depicted as a woman with endless confidence, who held men captive. Her impossible curves quickly became iconic and in Who Framed Roger Rabbit men constantly fawned and obsessed over her. Its definitely fair to say that if Jessica Rabbit were a real woman she would be very intimidating. So when Gillie and Marc wanted to create a life-size bronze Jessica Rabbit it was important to them to turn her into a hybrid that would make her less intimidating.
