Local Legends

Do You Know a Local Legend?

Every community has a story worth celebrating — and every community has its legends.

For more than 25 years, Gillie and Marc have used art to tell stories of love, identity and connection. Their iconic characters, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, were inspired by the artists themselves and their extraordinary love story. Local Legends grew from a simple idea: everyone has a story, and some stories deserve to be remembered forever.

Through the Local Legends Project, Gillie and Marc work with communities to create unique bronze sculptures celebrating the people, animals, characters and stories that have helped shape their local identity. Each sculpture is specially created to capture the personality, history and spirit of the community it represents.

As part of their commitment to the project, Gillie and Marc co-fund each Local Legends sculpture, helping communities bring these important stories into the public realm. Every new sculpture also becomes part of a growing network of Local Legends around the world — preserving stories that might otherwise be forgotten and giving them a permanent place in the community for generations to come.
