Gillie and Marc The Celebrity Animal Sculpture Exhibition
Jul 4, 2019 / The Weekend Edition -- Named the most successful and prolific creators of public art in New York’s history by The New York Times, internationally renowned artists Gillie and Marc are bringing The Celebrity Animal sculpture exhibition to Queensland for the first time on July 4. Hand picking the Paradise Centre at Surfers Paradise as the first destination in Queensland to host the bronze sculptures, the critically acclaimed, free exhibition will run over six months, featuring life-size statues of celebrities sporting the heads of four-legged creatures – Arnie ‘Stag’ Schwarzenegger, Pamela ‘Poodle’ Anderson and Jessica ‘Rabbit’ Rabbit.
The globally renowned artistic duo, that has collaborated for more than 25 years, sought out Surfers Paradise as the ideal Queensland location for the exhibition, having already entertained crowds in Sydney, Melbourne and Shanghai. Gillie and Marc are thrilled to be a part of Surfers Paradise, with the exhibition contributing to the culture of and bringing life to the precinct. Visitors to Paradise Centre will also have the chance to win a miniature Gillie and Marc Dogman sculpture each month (valued at $350 each) by uploading a photo of themselves with one of the ‘celebrities’ to the Paradise Centre Instagram page.
