Sculpture Of Wild Animals On A Scooter Appears Outside St Paul's
Published May 30 2025

What do you get when you cross half a zoo-full of animals, the world's longest scooter and an iconic dome? Go Wildlife Go, the latest offering from Gillie and Marc.
Visit Paternoster Square, situated near St Paul's Cathedral, any time between now and February 2026, and you'll be met by the quirk vision of an elephant, a giraffe, a lion, a koala and numerous other wild animals cast in bronze, scooting their way through the city.
Presumably they've an important meeting to get to somewhere in the concrete jungle.

In typical Gillie and Marc style (they're the two artists who've had sculptures absolutely bloody everywhere in London lately, including the Wild Table of Love, which was also in Paternoster Square), Go Wildlife Go is huge fun — and comes with spaces on the scooter where kids (and adults) can climb aboard.

But the untamed tableaux carries a serious message. The African elephant is threatened by poaching. The Masai giraffe is endangered due to habitat loss. Fewer than 3,000 individual Grevy's zebras remain. There are only twofemale northern white rhinos left in the world.
"This sculpture is not just an artwork," say Gillie and Marc, "it's a movement. We want people to experience the thrill of the ride, but also to understand the importance of coming together for a common cause. By riding side-by-side with these endangered creatures, we hope to inspire action and remind everyone that we are all part of the same ecosystem.
"The ride may be fun, but the stakes are real."
