Description
The Soul of the Forest presents a powerful gorilla seated in quiet contemplation. Set against a vivid golden-yellow background, the deep black figure is brought to life through expressive strokes of white, orange, and red, highlighting its powerful form and distinctive features. The gorilla’s calm yet commanding presence creates a striking sense of dignity and strength, while the bold contrast and gestural brushwork evoke the raw energy and enduring spirit of the natural world.
Artwork Features
In this highly expressive and passionate style Gillie and Marc have let their emotions run free in this explosive collection of freehand painting. Inspired by the styles of Brett Whiteley, Francis Bacon, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Gillie and Marc have combined enamel paint with oil pastel to breathe life into the worlds most endangered species. Over the past five years, Gillie and Marc spent hours sketching and studying wildlife, travelling the globe to meet these animals up close. These sketches have now been brought to life in vibrant colour with love and passion. Each painting is created as a team with both the artists bringing their own emotion into every painting.
Please note: All canvases come stretched and ready to hang, however if you would like your painting to be framed, Gillie and Marc are happy to provide this service for you at your request. For framing enquiries please email us.
Care Instructions
It is important to keep your painting out of direct sunlight and not to lean anything against the surface of the canvas. If it gets dusty, it can be cleaned with a soft dry cloth.
