Enamel, impasto and oil pastel on canvas
Contemporary Expressive, Wildlife, Nature
The painting titled "Willow, the bolting red deer" captures the essence of the endangered red deer species, evoking a sense of both power and vulnerability. The focal point of the artwork is a magnificent red deer, facing the camera with an intense gaze that reflects its resilience in the face of adversity. Behind the deer, a moving silhouette rendered in soft paint and pastel colors symbolizes the gradual disappearance of these majestic creatures from their natural habitat. The thick brushstrokes and the movement in the paint and pastel create a sense of urgency, emphasizing the urgency of their conservation. The title, "Willow, the bolting red deer," suggests both the swift movement of the deer and the urgency to protect and preserve these endangered animals before they vanish from our world.
In this highly expressive and passionate style Gillie and Marc have let their emotions run free in this explosive collection of freehand painting. Inspired by the styles of Brett Whiteley, Francis Bacon, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Gillie and Marc have combined enamel paint with oil pastel to breathe life into the worlds most endangered species. Over the past five years, Gillie and Marc spent hours sketching and studying wildlife, travelling the globe to meet these animals up close. These sketches have now been brought to life in vibrant colour with love and passion. Each painting is created as a team with both the artists bringing their own emotion into every painting.
