Description
"Luni, the Disappearing White Rhino" presents a poignant and thought-provoking image of a white rhinoceros named Luni amidst a backdrop of shifting silhouettes in soft pastel hues, symbolizing the gradual disappearance of its species. With fading contours and ethereal tones, the painting evokes a profound sense of loss and vulnerability, highlighting the pressing threat of extinction due to poaching and habitat destruction. Through its evocative imagery, the artwork serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for conservation efforts to protect endangered species like Luni and to preserve the delicate balance of our ecosystems. It prompts viewers to reflect on the consequences of human activity on the natural world and to advocate for meaningful action to safeguard biodiversity and ensure the survival of species on the brink of extinction.
Artwork Features
In this highly expressive and passionate style Gillie and Marc have let their emotions run free in this explosive collection of freehand painting. Inspired by the styles of Brett Whiteley, Francis Bacon, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Gillie and Marc have combined enamel paint with oil pastel to breathe life into the worlds most endangered species. Over the past five years, Gillie and Marc spent hours sketching and studying wildlife, travelling the globe to meet these animals up close. These sketches have now been brought to life in vibrant colour with love and passion. Each painting is created as a team with both the artists bringing their own emotion into every painting.
