Everyone loves to play Jenga, carefully removing the bricks, with butterflies in their stomachs, hoping they’ve balanced it right so the tower doesn’t come crashing down. Jenga is a Swahili word meaning ‘to build’. It’s important to build the tower with complete cohesion, each brick affecting the stability of the others. Inspired by the events of Covid-19, this sculpture looks at how we can use the lessons we have learned and apply them to create a better, kinder world. As we look to build up again, we must think of all the pieces, making sure they are all in harmony: people, business and nature. If we don’t balance all the pieces, the entire stack will fall. We must build a better world so all the animals of the world, like the rhino, can stand strong at the top of the tower.
