Description
Koalas are marsupials, which mainly means their young are born before they are ready to live in the outside world. So when this koala joey was born, still an embryo, she would have instinctively headed for her mama’s pouch. There she would have stayed for six months, suckling constantly. When she was strong enough to survive outside the pouch and start eating eucalyptus leaves, she would have left her mama’s pouch and clambered onto her back, which is how we find this mother and daughter, making their way through their eucalyptus forest.
