This lovely lioness doesn’t often visit the jungle. She prefers to be out on the plains, being able to see for miles as the land stretches out in every direction. But today she felt like a change. Once she was in nice and deep she gave a big sigh, feeling the energy of all the living creatures all around her. This was a wonderful escape.

Out in the wild, there is so much to see. Diversity is abounding with colours, smells, sounds, and the indescribable feeling that something amazing will always happen.

In this series of paintings, Gillie and Marc are bringing this sensation of brilliance and wonder to life. In a contemporary expressionist style, the artists play with brushstrokes and colour, pulling the magic out of the canvas so we can truly see the iridescence of nature.

Lost Dogs Of Hope Project

Gillie and Marc have set in motion a beautiful, life-changing art venture that will help thousands of Australians. What is the Lost Dogs of Hope Project Gillie and Marc’s Lost Dogs artworks represent the times we’ve all felt lost. The artists first came up with the Lost Dog concept in 2013 when they placed 100 Lost Dog sculptures in various locations around Sydney. Within a month, all but three of the sculptures were stolen. The Lost Dogs received a cult following and can still be found all over Sydney. Everyone will feel lost at some point. Talking about it is the first step to finding yourself again. So Gillie and Marc have launched The Lost Dogs of Hope Project, a series of various short videos where Australian celebrities discuss the times when they’ve felt lost and alone. Gillie opened up to her 60,000 Facebook fans about a time when she felt lost. She spoke about being a first-time mother, isolated at home with a newborn, scared out of her mind. At one point a tearful Gillie puts a hand to her chest and says, “I can’t do this”. The video went viral and within a week received over 118,000 views: https://www.facebook.com/gillieandmarc/video. The artists were stunned by all the comments from people sharing their own experiences of feeling lost. Viewers have even sent private messages of thanks. Gillie’s story may have helped thousands of others feel less alone, but there’s still more to be done. Who is involved? We’ve been so privileged to have inspiring people such as Mia Freedman, The Block’s Neale Whitaker, Olympian Elka Whalan, surfing champion Layne Beachley, actresses Allison Cratchley and Jolene Andersen, and blogger and TV personality, Lisa Clark, talk to us about the times when they’ve hit rock bottom. Having them share in such an honest and brave way really helps to break the stigma around feeling lost. The chimpanzee is our closest living relative, sharing about 99 % of our DNA. It’s even thought that we have a common ancestor who lived sometime between 7-13 million years ago! Through research of we have been able to see some of the magical similarities between us and chimpanzees. We all have our own unique personalities, are incredibly social, can learn basic sign-language, and, most importantly use and make tools.

Description
Inspired by the true story and the film ‘Born Free’, this sculpture is a celebration of an orphaned lion cub who was saved by a loving couple. In Northern Kenya, a game warden called George Adamson was sent to deal with a lion who killed a man. Finding three cubs that were left behind he took them home to his wife, Joy, naming them Big One, Lastika and Elsa. They raised the cubs themselves rehoming two at a zoo. But they had formed a special connection with Elsa. They decided to release her to the wild and started the difficult journey of teaching her to fend for herself. After a lot of setbacks including a lack of hunting skills, being attacked by a warthog, and even becoming seriously injured after a different attack, Elsa found her feet. With a lot of hard work and dedication, they taught her how to be a wild cat and set her free in Kenya. Elsa grew to have cubs of her own, starting a new generation of lions that would have never been.

In the sculpture, Elsa stands on a 1961 landrover surrounded by orphan cubs, 20 in total. There are also two couples of adult lions, George and Joy, and Bill and Virginia, representing the real-life couple who raised the little orphaned Elsa, and the actors who played them in the movie. The cubs symbolise the future generations of lions.

Description
Dogman and Rabbitwoman were deeply in love, and their adventures often took them to the most exotic and magical places. Today, they found themselves in a stunningly beautiful and colourful jungle, where the air was thick with the scent of exotic flowers and the songs of tropical birds. They were riding on the back of a massive rhinoceros, its powerful legs carrying them effortlessly through the dense vegetation. As they rode, they marveled at the incredible wildlife around them, including playful monkeys swinging from tree to tree and majestic tigers wandering through the jungle. It was a truly breathtaking sight, and Dogman and Rabbitwoman were grateful to be able to experience it together.
